One of the founding initiatives of the Westside Coalition is the Public Market at Fair Park. This initiative is a great example of what can happen when governmental organizations work with local citizen groups to plan for future initiatives. At the insistence of the Westside Coalition, the Public Market at Fair Park Initiative motivated the City of Salt Lake and the RDA to complete a study determining that a Public Market at Fair Park is a feasible venture.
The final report is forthcoming and the initiative will go to the Fair Park Board of Directors for review. This is a great example of economic justice in action by providing the Westside an equal opportunity to pursue high visibility projects.
